Privacy Policy

How the Lanier for Congress campaign handles information from visitors, supporters, and contributors.

Last updated: Pending counsel review and approval

The Lanier for Congress campaign ("the Campaign," "we," or "us") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect through this website, how we use it, and the choices you have about it.

Information we collect

We collect information you choose to give us when you sign up for our email list, fill out our contact or volunteer forms, RSVP for an event, or contribute to the campaign. That information may include:

  • Your name and email address
  • Your phone number, ZIP code, or mailing address (when provided)
  • Your message or notes you include with a form submission
  • Your stated availability or volunteer interests
  • For contributors: employer, occupation, and citizenship attestation as required by federal campaign-finance law (52 U.S.C. § 30104(b)(3)(A))

We also collect routine technical information your browser sends to any website, including your IP address, device and browser type, referring page, and pages viewed on this site. We use this only for security and to understand how visitors use the site.

How we use your information

  • To send you campaign updates, event invitations, and ways to get involved (only if you have opted in to our email list)
  • To follow up on volunteer inquiries and contact-form messages
  • To comply with our reporting obligations to the Federal Election Commission
  • To analyze traffic patterns and improve the site
  • To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents

Donations

Donations are processed by ActBlue, a federally registered political fundraising platform. When you click any Donate button on this site, you are directed to ActBlue's secure donation form. ActBlue collects and processes payment information directly; the Campaign does not see or store credit card numbers, bank account numbers, or similar financial details. Information you provide to ActBlue is subject to ActBlue's privacy policy.

Federal law requires the Campaign to report the name, address, occupation, and employer of individuals whose contributions exceed $200 in a calendar year. That information becomes part of public reports filed with the Federal Election Commission.

How we share your information

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share information with:

  • Service providers who help us operate the campaign (for example, our database host, email service, and donation processor) — only to the extent necessary to perform their service
  • Government agencies as required by law (including the FEC)
  • Other political committees or organizations only if you have expressly consented to that sharing

Your choices

  • You can unsubscribe from our email list at any time using the link in any email we send, or by emailing info@lanier4congress.com.
  • You can ask us to delete information you have provided through this site by emailing info@lanier4congress.com. Note that federal recordkeeping rules may require us to retain contribution-related information for a period set by law even if you ask us to delete it.
  • If you reside in California, you have specific rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act. Contact us at the address above to exercise those rights.

Security

We use commercially reasonable safeguards to protect the information we collect. No method of transmission over the internet is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Children

This site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
